I could never predict how transformative these 4 years would be. I came into college having no idea what I wanted to do, or where I wanted to be.
After changing my major a total of 5 times, I finally decided on English. Writing has always been my ‘thing’; English has been my favorite subject since pre-school.
I might have made up my mind sooner if I realized the potential that my degree held. Our society rotates around words and communication– everything that writing is.
My English classrooms felt like home. I began to thrive once I started in the English department.
From getting involved in several projects to making the dean’s list in both of my senior semesters, what I accomplished in my undergraduate career paves the way for what’s to come.
My College Experience

Satori: Winona State’s Literary Art’s Magazine
Editor: I got hands-on experience in the editing and publishing process. Some of my tasks included establishing a theme, selecting works, creating advertisement material, and proofreading the chosen pieces. In addition, I ran Satori’s Instagram page.

Sigma Sigma Sigma: Zeta Eta Chapter
As a member of the national sorority Sigma Sigma Sigma, I was given several opportunities to grow.
Public Relations Chair: I was elected to this position two semesters in a row, co-managing all social media platforms from Dec. 2020 — Dec. 2021.
Social Chair: In this position, I organized activities with other sororities and fraternities on campus.
Greek Council Member: Attended weekly meetings, supported inter-fraternal relationships, and reported all council news to my chapter.
Rising Star Award: Only 4 awards were granted at the 2021 Greek Banquet. I was honored to be nominated as the Rising Star of all Greek Life organizations at WSU.
Writing & Editing
Picto Poem Project: Several other poets and I partnered up with photographers and wrote a variety of poems to be displayed in one of Winona State’s galleries. This project was inspired by native Minnesota poet, Kim Blaeser, who also visited our exhibit.
Arbor Day Project: In my Advanced Poetry class, my peers and I wrote poems to be displayed around campus in celebration of Arbor Day. My poem was selected to be posted on several of Winona State’s social media platforms.
Editing: Co-editor of a currently untitled scholarly anthology authored by doctoral candidates for Winona State University’s College of Education.
