This section highlights the work that shapes my professional journey, the projects I dive into, and the skills I use to bring ideas to life. From marketing and social media to student life and photography, it shows the different ways I engage, create, and connect with the people and projects I care about.
This position allows me to combine my passion for storytelling, photography, and social media while sharing the Wayland Academy experience with students, families, and the wider community. It’s given me the opportunity to explore multiple facets of marketing and communications, from written content to visual storytelling, all while staying closely connected to student life on campus.

Writing
I write, edit, and proofread content for a variety of platforms, from website pages to newsletters, emails, and promotional materials. My goal is to capture the authentic voice of Wayland Academy while ensuring clarity, accuracy, and accessibility. I also collaborate with faculty, students, and alumni to transform their ideas and stories into engaging written content.

Photography
I photograph all aspects of the Wayland experience, from academics and athletics to student life events and campus scenes. Working closely with students allows me to capture authentic moments and engage them in the process, making the images more personal and dynamic. Post-production editing and cataloging ensures each photo is polished and ready to share across social media, the website, and print materials, creating a compelling visual story of the Wayland community.

Social Media
I am the primary manager of Wayland Academy’s social media presence, creating posts and campaigns that spotlight campus life, student achievements, and school events. I develop content calendars, create content, write captions, schedule posts, and interact with the Wayland community to build engagement.

In addition to my marketing responsibilities, I’m actively involved in student life at Wayland. I serve as a dorm supervisor, supporting students in creating a safe, welcoming, and positive residential environment.
I’m also part of the mentor program, guiding a group of seven students by helping them navigate school life, build confidence, and grow both academically and personally.

In this position, I got my first true look into web writing and design. I’ve also had the chance to dabble in a variety of other marketing sectors, including email, print advertisement, and blogging.

Web Content Migration
I was appointed to my current position to support the development of a new website for WSU.
Web Writing & Editing: I edited existing web content for grammar, length, SEO, clarity, and accessibility. I also wrote new web content as needed.
Design: From implementing accessibility standards to making each page visually appealing, I would draft and create pages on WordPress to suit everyone’s needs.

Virtual Tour: Project Manager
I served as the project manager overseeing the development of a virtual tour of WSU’s campus.
Communication: I was the primary contact of representatives from Mass Interact.
Organization: I created, gathered, and organized different components required for the final product.
Written Content: I wrote all text included in the tour, including external assets.

Program Finder
I worked on WSU’s Program Finder, helping students explore the academic paths we have to offer.
WordPress: I helped draft, build, and publish pages within WordPress.
Data Collection: I gathered, condensed, and organized meaningful information used to describe academic programs to perspective students.

Of course, there’s more. Look at what else I was up to between 9 am-5 pm.
Blogs: I wrote blogs as a student employee, and still create the occasional blog here and there.
Copy Editing: I enhanced written material, fixing grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style.
Marketing Campaigns: I contributed to RFI emails, captions, and print advertisements for our newest campaign, “Take the Torch.”
As an English major, I never would have thought I’d work in social media. This student position opened my eyes to the world of potential my Writing degree offers.
This role also paved the way for my current job. I was offered my full-time position upon graduation because of my work as a student in the Marketing and Communications department.

I helped schedule meetings, implement strategy, create and assign tasks, and just get the conversation going when ideas weren’t flowing.
